What to expect as competitive or recreational PROJECT DANCE Parent:
**No jeans may be worn in any class!!! - Hair must be UP and OFF the face!!!
- Hair: Hair is to be put up in a high or low bun, with bangs and wisps clipped up out of face, secured with thin elastic, hairnet and bobby pins. Other acceptable styles are secured rolls or braids which have been pinned up. Hair scrunches and ribbons are acceptable. For short hair, if hair is not able to be put into a low ponytail, then hair needs to be kept out of face with a hair band and clips.
- Jewelry: The following take away from the line of the dancer and are not to be worn in class; watches, dangly earrings, necklaces, bracelets and big rings.
- Extra Clothing: Tight ballet sweaters can be worn in class; however, only for barre work or first 15 minutes of class. Shorts, ballet practice skirts and legwarmers are not allowed.
- Character Skirts: All ballet students Grade One- Grade Five will need to pay a $15.00 rental on a character skirt (provided by Project Dance). This will rent the skirt for the dance season.
- Leotard: Short-sleeved, scooped neck leotard in Academy Pink (RAD approved Mondor style #1635).
- Skirt: Semi-sheer, gathered skirt in pink to match leotard (RAD approved Mondor style #3084). Skirt should be halfway between the mid-thigh and the knee.
- Leggings: Ballet Pink (more white then pink) tights or thin, pink ankle socks.
- Shoes: Pink, soft, full-sole leather or canvas ballet slipper, with pink elastic. Bloch recommended.
- Leotard: Sleeveless tank, scooped neck leotard in True Blue worn with matching elastic belt (belt does not need to be worn in class, but kept for exam purposes).
- Tights: Ballet Pink (more white then pink).
- Shoes, Ballet: Pink, soft, full-sole leather or canvas ballet slipper, with pink elastic. Bloch recommended.
- Shoes, Character: black canvas, low heel, with pink elastic (recommended if taking exam). Black tap shoes with taps removed or "party shoes" with straps that stay securely on the foot are acceptable substitution.
- Leotard: Sleeveless tank, scooped neck leotard in Navy worn with matching elastic belt (belt does not need to be worn in class, but kept for exam purposes).
- Tights: Ballet Pink (more white then pink).
- Shoes, Ballet: Pink, soft, full-sole leather or canvas ballet slipper, with pink elastic. Bloch recommended.
- Shoes, Character: black canvas, 1 1/4" Cuban heel, with pink elastic (recommended if taking exam). Black tap shoes with taps removed or "party shoes" with straps that stay securely on the foot are acceptable substitutions. (Note for Gr. 3 Students; if you still fit low heel, keep them and buy Cuban heel when needed.)
- Leotard: Sleeveless tank or spaghetti strap leotard in Black, with either built in support or beige bra that hides underneath leotard – PLEASE NO BRAS SHOWING!!
- Tights: Ballet Pink Convertibles.
- Shoes, Soft: Pink, soft, full-sole leather or canvas ballet slipper with pink ribbon. Bloch recommended.
- Shoes, Pointe: Any best fit, with pink ribbon and pink elastic. (Gaynor Mindens are not recommended unless otherwise specified by teacher). WHEN YOU BUY POINTE SHOES, DO NOT SEW RIBBON OR ELASTICS UNTIL CHECKED BY BALLET INSTRUCTOR!
- Leotard: Sleeveless tank or spaghetti strap leotard in Black, with either built in support or beige bra that hides underneath leotard – PLEASE NO BRAS SHOWING!!
- Tights: Ballet Pink Convertibles
